Eric Garcia has performed well for Girona FC, helping the minnows rise to the top of the table, while his parent club sits in fourth.
What the future holds for Garcia is still unknown, it’s understood he wants to either stay permanently with FC Barcelona or be sold to a new club come the summer transfer window. Another loan will not be accepted.
Garcia was signed to become a key piece by Barcelona and was a key starter for Luis Enrique in the Spanish national team, but his stock hit a low point last season after some bad performances.
Barcelona were keen to get rid of him and save on his salary, and they had to convince him to accept the loan. What has transpired since has been remarkable, as Garcia is starting for a team no one expected to be in first place.
It wasn’t long ago that Garcia was not in the club’s plans at all, but now there are some voices that say that Barcelona could bring in a good amount of money by selling another defender and keeping him for the long term.
Failing that, Barcelona will hope that now that his stock is back up for his work on loan, they can get a good buyer for next year.
