When the biggest game of the season happens, nobody wants to miss it. Even the injured players.
Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué, one of the key players on the squad, returned from the losing trip against Real Sociedad with hip discomfort, a recurring problem that the Spanish international has been dealing with for more than two years. He missed Monday's training session in the Catalan capital to undergo tests.
While the tests haven't showed the problem has gotten worse, Piqué would need some time to rest until the pain gets at least a little better and doesn't make it tougher for the player to move. Unfortunately for him, there is a massive Champions League match against Atlético Madrid on Wednesday with a spot in the semifinals on the line, and Piqué will play through pain.
A few clear reasons: he is not 100%, but healthy enough to play and the importance of the game makes the competitor inside every world-class footballer go through everything to be available. Also, three defenders (Mathieu, Vidal and Vermaelen) are injured and cannot play, making Piqué's absence a massive hit to the side without any experienced backups available.
Again, this is not a big injury, but it will be a problem Piqué has to deal with on Wednesday. Let's see if it affects him.
