As El Clásico Week begins, Barcelona has a major injury doubt for this weekend's giant clash.
Full-back Jordi Alba featured for Spain in the 0-0 draw against Romania on Sunday, and he left the match with a sprained right ankle according to reports from Catalan media. Alba is already on his way back to Barcelona and will immediately start treatment upon arriving in the Catalan capital.
There is no official word from the club yet about the extent of the injury, although the initial reports do not mention a serious issue. With five days left to play against Real Madrid, and more importantly eight days left to the giant UEFA Champions League quarterfinal first leg encounter with Atlético Madrid, Alba is a huge absence if unable to recover in time.
Alba has made 32 appearances so far this season, recording four assists and displaying his consistent defensive and offensive abilities. If the ankle problem is serious, one of the team's top performers will be missed in the most important part of the campaign.
