The Dutchman continues
Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed that first-team coach Ronald Koeman will stay on for a second season at the Camp Nou.
There has been speculation the Dutchman could leave in the summer after a poor end to the 2020-21 campaign saw the team’s title hopes fizzle out.

Laporta had admitted he was looking for a replacement but has now decided to keep faith with the 58-year-old for another campaign.
Here’s what he’s had to say:
“After this period of reflection I want to announce that we have agreed to continue the contract that Ronald Koeman has in force. We are pleased with how the talks have gone and how we have unified criteria.
“We are pleased with how the talks have gone, how we have unified criteria of what to do next season and an evaluation of what happened in the past.
“We are convinced that next will be a great season for Barça. We had conversations to get to know each other well because I like to know the coach very well, as happened with Rijkaard or Guardiola.”
Koeman had looked set for the sack after costly results against Granada and Levante saw the title slip out of Barcelona’s hands. Xavi, Roberto Martinez, and Hansi Flick were all mentioned as possible replacements but Koeman has been granted another season.
