The Frenchman has picked up a fresh injury
Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele is expected to miss France’s final Euro 2020 group game against Portugal on Wednesday after suffering a fresh injury setback.
The forward, who only came on as a substitute in Saturday’s draw with Hungary, had to be taken late off after picking up a problem.
Didier Deschamps confirmed after the match it was a knee tendon injury that would require further testing.
According to L’Equipe, Dembele will miss the match against Portugal and could potentially also be unavailable for the last 16.
France top Group F ahead of the final round of games but face a tricky test next against Portugal who were beaten by Germany last time out. Joachim Low’s side are in second and finish off against Hungary.
Antoine Griezmann spoke about his team’s chances at a news conference on Sunday and admitted it will be a big game.
“It’s going to be a big match against Portugal. The stadium will be full and lots of us will have our families in the stands so it’s up to us to get the three points. We have to keep first place in the group and give a great show to the French supporters.”
The Barcelona forward has been in great form for France recently. He grabbed the equalizer against Hungary and scored in the warm-up wins over Wales and Bulgaria.
