There is reportedly little interest in the Brazilian
Philippe Coutinho is one of several players tipped to leave Barcelona this summer, but it seems the Brazilian could end up staying at the Camp Nou after all.
The 29-year-old hasn’t featured in 2021 after suffering a knee injury at the start of the year that ended his season prematurely and required a second operation in April.
Barca are willing to sell but have received “no interesting offers” and “do not have much hope of being able” to offload the 29-year-old, according to L’Esportiu.
A sale is difficult because of his price tag and his salary with the report claiming “few clubs in Europe” can afford to pay his wages currently.
There have been whispers of interest from Premier League clubs, and his agent Kia Joorabchain said last year the Brazilian “would love to return,” but so far no major offers have arrived.
All of which means that Barcelona now seem to be thinking about having Coutinho for next season. Ronald Koeman apparently likes him and the club is said to be looking on the bright side and thinking: “We don’t have too many midfielders. For now, he stays and we hope he shows his level.”
Coutinho did start last season fairly brightly after a loan spell with Bayern Munich but he’d lost his place in the starting XI before injury ended his season. The midfielder is still in Brazil working his way back from injury but is expected back in time for pre-season next month.
