After a bright start from the Welsh, Denmark dominated
The Euro 2020 knockout stages began in Amsterdam with a Round of 16 match between Wales and Denmark, and the Danish are through to the quarterfinal stage thanks to an impressive 4-0 win with a brace from Kasper Dolberg and Barcelona’s Martin Braithwaite playing all 90 minutes — and scoring once.
The Welsh were very good to start the game, with a 15-minute barrage of attacks and Gareth Bale looking unstoppable with his pace and skill, and he came close to scoring with a powerful shot that went just wide.
Then Andreas Christensen moved from the backline into the midfield, Denmark gained control of possession and the game completely changed. Wales couldn’t deal with Maehle and Damsgaard on the left side, and the two combined on an excellent team move that ended with Dolberg scoring a very good opening goal.

Denmark continued to dominate the rest of the half and could have gone up two before the break, but the second goal had to wait until the third minute of the final period: Braithwaite went on a great run down the right and played a cross into the six-yard box, which was poorly cleared by Neco Williams and fired into the back of the net by Dolberg for his second of the day.

Wales tried to take the initiative and look for a goal but were uninspired in attack, with a header from Bale their only good moment of the second half. Denmark stayed solid at the back and tried to get a third on the counter, which came when Maehle completed his Man of the Match worthy performance with a beautiful finish to make it 3-0.

There was still time for Braithwaite to get a much-deserved first goal of the tournament as he showed his striker instincts and fired home the fourth in added time.
Braithwaite is the first Barça player moving on to the Last Eight, and Denmark have won two in a row and will be a dangerous opponent in the quarterfinals. And to make this even better, we know Christian Eriksen is very happy right now.
