The Denmark midfield collapsed on Saturday

Martin Braithwaite has sent a message of support to Denmark team-mate Christian Eriksen after the midfielder suffered a cardiac arrrest during the team’s Euro 2020 game against Finland on Saturday.

Eriksen received CPR on the pitch after collapsing on 41 minutes. The Denmark players formed a protective shield around the midfielder while he received treatment and he was then taken to hospital.

Denmark have since confirmed Eriksen is in a stable condition and is undergoing further testing. The two teams ended up playing out the match later on Saturday with Finland winning 1-0.

Braithwaite has taken to social media after Saturday’s distressing events and sent his support to Eriksen and his family.

Other messages of support have come flooding in for Eriksen from around the world since his collapse which stunned the football world.

The Denmark FA confirmed on Sunday that the midfielder was undergoing further tests but had spoken to his teammates.

Meanwhile, Denmark team doctor Morten Boesen has offered some insight into what happend when Eriksen collapsed on the pitch.

“He was gone. We did cardiac resuscitation, it was a cardiac arrest,” he said.

“How close were we to losing him? I don’t know, but we got him back after one defib [defibrillation] so that’s quite fast.

“The examinations that have been done so far look fine. We don’t have an explanation to why it happened.”
