FC Barcelona Set to Extend Contracts of Rafinha and Pedro, per report

They want to keep everyone until the transfer ban ends.

Barcelona has a definitive squad for next season, and because of the transfer ban by FIFA, they'll have to stick with that roster for the next two seasons. And they want to make sure that everyone stays.

Andoni Zubizarreta, Barça's sporting director, is negotiating contract extensions with all players that have deals expiring in 2016. Sergi Roberto is the priority, and after that's done, Zubi will move on to Rafinha Alcântara and Pedro Rodríguez, per Mundo Deportivo report.

Rafinha's agent already knows about Zubi's intention, and they will start negotiations soon. The Brazilian has a €30 million buyout clause, which is low for the current transfer standards. Barça plan on doubling that ammount, as well as giving Rafinha a salary raise, guaranteeing him at the club until 2019. The 21-year-old is reportedly on board with the interest from the boss, and he will accept the offer.

Pedro's case is similar. Yes, he has disappointed in the last few seasons since the departure of Pep Guardiola. Last season specially was awful, and he didn't get that many opportunities from Tata Martino. He thought of leaving, but coach Luis Enrique convinced him to stay. He had plenty of playing time in the pre-season, and started Barça's last Liga match, against Villarreal. He feels better now, and he is also willing to accept Zubi's extension.
