Lionel Messi, two shy of 400 career goals

And he's only 27.

As Barcelona fans, we get the best seats in the house to watch Lionel Messi's greatness. He scores goals when he wants, basically. Last season, maybe his "worst", Leo still managed to score 41 goals in 46 matches. He also won the World Cup Golden Ball as the tournament's best player, scoring four goals in the process. And now he is very close to doing something amazing.

Leo is two goals shy of 400 career strikes, for both club and the Argentina national team. Since Barcelona will play 6 games in the next 18 days, the chance of seeing him doing that is close to 300%. His first chance will be next Saturday, at home against Athletic Bilbao.

Messi would need a brace to do that. No problem. Barça's number 10 has already delivered 75 braces in his career. It would be fantastic for a striker if he had 30 of those in his entire life. Messi has 75. SEVENTY-FIVE. If he's unable to do it against Bilbao, he will have an even better chance to accomplish the feat next Wednesday, when Barça plays the weaker APOEL Nicosia in their UEFA Champions League debut.

There is a great stat that shows how spectacular of a striker Messi is. Just take a look at his goal ratio, compared to the greatest strikers of the last 25 years:

Cristiano Ronaldo has 30 more goals than Leo. But he needed TWO HUNDRED more matches to do that. Oh well.

Messi has scored 356 goals for Barcelona, along with 42 for the Albiceleste. Also, with 245 Spanish League goals, Leo is close to shattering another record, of legendary striker Telmo Zarra. If he scores seven more goals, Messi will become the greatest scorer in La Liga history.

You're not impressed, right?
