Màlaga CF - FC Barcelona: First points dropped (0-0) | FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona dominated Malaga at La Rosaleda this evening, but the combination of a poor playing surface and an ultra-tight Andalusian defence meant that not only did they score no goals, but also failed to produce many real chances. Time and time again they pushed forward in search of a way to break the deadlock, but the best they could achieve was a series of half-chances and near misses.
Luis Enrique: "We lacked accuracy over the final metres" | FC Barcelona
He accepted that "Malaga had a good game, they were very intense … We needed to be more patient, we lost the ball too much by attacking too directly. It wasn't a great game for us". But after playing three games in eight days, he did feel obliged to comment that "the players aren’t machines. That’s a game every three days".
Yet another clean sheet for Bravo | FC Barcelona
Following last night’s 0-0 draw in Malaga, Barça are still top of the Liga table but only by virtue of their superior goal difference over Sevilla, who also have 13 points from their first five games. Valencia could join them if they beat Cordoba this evening, and would go top if they do so by three or more goals.
Andres Iniesta bemoans failure to score | FC Barcelona
"We always aim to get three points but although people take it as given that we’ll always win, today showed that that’s not the case" said tonight’s FC Barcelona captain Andrés Iniesta after the first setback in what has until now been the perfect start to the league season. And he felt that it was Malaga’s defensive tactics that were the main cause of their failure to score at La Rosaleda.
Douglas makes FC Barcelona debut | FC Barcelona
Playing alongside Bartra, Piqué and Jordi Alba, the debutant pushed forward to support the attack on several occasions, especially in the first half. He stayed on for 18 minutes of the second half before Luis Enrique took him off just moments after he’d been yellow-carded for a challenge on Luis Alberto. He was replaced by Adriano, who thus got to play his first Liga football of the season after only playing in the Champions League match with APOEL this season.

This Wednesday, the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training ground witnessed the first goals for Luis Suárez and Thomas Vermaelen in a Barça shirt. Thomas Vermaelen declared fit | FC Barcelona
The Barça first team returned to training on Thursday morning after drawing 0-0 with Malaga the night before, and there was good news waiting for Luis Enrique. All three European opponents win | FC Barcelona
FCB’s next opponents, Paris Saint-Germain won their Ligue 1 match away to Caen 2-0, their first three points on the road this league season. Lucas Moura and Marquinhos scored either side of half-time to put the Parisians second in the table, with some teams still to play on Thursday.
Deulofeu delight for Sevilla | Sky Sports Football
Sevilla moved joint top of the Primera Division with Barcelona after a superb volley from Gerard Deulofeu saw off Real Sociedad and heaped more misery on under-fire boss Jagoba Arrasate. The Barcelona loanee, who spent last season at Everton, struck the only goal of the game after 18 minutes but Sevilla were well worth the three points and only their profligacy in front of goal spared La Real a drubbing.
Celta Vigo rising again after Luis Enrique paved the way | Eurosport
The perception of Vigo, a city of 300,000 on Spain's north-west coast, isn't usually a positive one. Like Grimsby, it's intrinsically linked to the fishing industry and the docks close to the city centre aren't the most attractive part of Spain's coastline. Spaniards mock the verdant north-west for the rain and inclement weather, but that’s not altogether fair.
Baptistao brace delight | Sky Sports Football
Athletic were in front in the 20th minute through Aritz Aduriz's close-range finish. But their poor start to the season continued after Baptistao, scoring his first goals since his return to Rayo over the summer, turned the game on its head. The on-loan Atletico Madrid forward pounced on a Gorka Iraizoz error to level in the 39th minute and then notched again in the 89th.
Gold from Garcia | Sky Sports Football
A fine solo goal by Ruben Garcia settled a tight game at Granada 1-0 and allowed Levante to pick up their first win of the season to move out of the relegation zone. The young midfielder struck right at the beginning of the second half to give the visitors the lead at the Nuevo Los Carmenes and Los Granotes held on to get one over their former boss Joaquin Caparros, who suffered his first defeat in charge of Granada.
