Adriano Correia: "I was really scared, and many things went through my head"

Thankfully, he's good now.

Adriano Correia went through a scary moment this summer, when he was diagnosed with a heart problem that sidelined him for the whole pre-season. Now, the Barcelona left-back is fully healthy, and available to selection by coach Luis Enrique for the next matches.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Adriano talked about his feelings when he discovered the problem, as well as what he thinks about his team for the future. Here's a few higlights of his answers:

"I was really scared. I have never been diagnosed with something like that at Barça before, and a lot of things go through your head, naturally. But the doctors made me really calm, and I knew I was in good hands. I had a lot of faith and I knew everything was going to be okay.

I went through some hard times at Sevilla with something similar to that. But the Barça doctors said from the start that I didn't need to worry. That made me very calm. Now I'm at 100% and ready to go.

It's not easy to train alone. But while it was bad not to have a pre-season, it was way better to have the doctors finding out about that. Imagine me having something more serious in the middle of a pre-season friendly without knowing anything about it.

Luis Enrique's philosophy is not really different from what we had before but what changed is his character. He's a fantastic person and it was a good thing for our group.

I guess Messi was not at his best last year because he had a lot of injuries people don't know about. His body needed a break, and that affected him. He wanted to do something, but his body couldn't keep up with it. So many injuries happen but you still need to travel and try to perform at your best. We're all glad he's totally healthy again. I'm sure he'll have an amazing season.

I had a lot of offers from a lot of teams, but I told the club from the start that I wanted to stay, and Lucho told me he wanted me, so it was an easy decision.

Douglas? He's a great player, but he needs time to adapt. He'll have his opportunities, but he needs to adapt to everything and wait for his shot. I'm sure he'll get it in the future."
