Real Madrid vs Barcelona, 2017 La Liga: Final Score 0-3, Efficient Barça dominate El Clasico

WHAT A VICTORY!!!

Barcelona remain unbeaten in La Liga this season and are now nine points ahead of everyboy else thanks to a fantastic 3-0 win in El Clasico against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. Barça were organized and efficient throughout the 90 minutes and are now 14 points ahead of their biggest rivals, and the league title race may be over right now.

FIRST HALF

Madrid were at home and were the team that needed a win the most, so they took initiative and went forward with numbers at the start of the game, getting an early corner and an early goal from Cristiano Ronaldo, but he was offside and the goal was correctly disallowed.

After an early spell of pressure from the Blancos, Barça slowly grew into the game once Paulinho and Lionel Messi started to get on the ball and look for each other. The two best chances of the half for the Blaugrana came from great passes by Messi and great finishes by Paulinho, with Keylor Navas making two great saves to keep the Brazilian from scoring.

At the end of the half, Madrid once again increased their pressure looking for a goal before halftime. Ronaldo forced a wondeful save out of Ter Stegen, Karim Benzema hit the post from a Marcelo cross, and the hosts went into the break feeling like they could score at any moment in the second half.

SECOND HALF

Unfortunately for Madrid, it was Barça who got the first goal of the game in truly spectacular fashion: Sergio Busquets had possession on Barça’s half and while under pressure played a great through ball to Ivan Rakitic, who drove the ball forward and found Sergi Roberto near the edge of the box; Roberto then played a perfect low cross to Luis Suárez who finished an amazing team move to give Barça the lead.

Things got even better for Barça when Dani Carvajal was sent off for stopping a Paulinho header with his hand on the line to avoid a second goal, and Messi buried the penalty with ease to double the lead for the Blaugrana. Barça had a two-goal cushion against 10 men as we entered the final 25 minutes, and they just needed to avoid any silly mistakes and secure the win.

Madrid sent everybody forward on a desperate attempt to find a goal and stay alive in the game, but Ter Stegen made some big saves to stop Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos, keeping the clean sheet and securing the win. There was another goal for Barça late in the game when Messi found Aleix Vidal, and a 3-0 win is a perfect reflection of a simply sensational performance from Barça.
