Barcelona conceded two in their win over Real Madrid, but it could have been many more. Marc-Andre Ter Stegen made a stunning 12 saves, including a few from the absolute top drawer, to give his team a chance to win El Clasico.
The Catalans’ defense still is a bit shaky and it left the keeper with a lot of work to do. Here is just a sample of the saves the German pulled off:
The most notable might be the close-range save from Karim Benzema, which Ter Stegen parried with his left leg, jumping up and pushing it away from his net. It was not one you’ll see in a keeping manual these days... well, not a football keeper’s manual. You might see it in a handball keeper’s manual though...
