Significantly strengthens right side
If the rumours are to be believed, a player that is incredibly happy to get the chance to play for Barcelona, could be on his way to Internazionale.
The Serie A giants already appear to be scouting replacements for Achraf Hakimi, suggesting the former Real Madrid player is on the move again.
However, Emerson Royal, needs to fulfil his obligations at Barca if he wants to see his career skyrocket.
Though the Catalans are far from the finished article and are, for all intents and purposes, still at the beginning of a new project, jumping ship now for more instant gratification elsewhere isn’t going to see a successful end to the long game.

There’s a real chance for Emerson, currently at his first-ever Copa America with Brazil, to make a mark at the Camp Nou and ensure that the right-back slot is his own.
At 22 years of age, he’s only a couple of years older than Sergino Dest, but his skill set and quality on the ball will certainly give Dest something to think about.
For example, one of the strongest parts of Emerson’s game is his crossing ability.
Adept at powering forward at just the right time, the player instinctively takes up the correct position to get the ball into the box.
Time and again at Betis he showed his pace down the flank, overlapping at will before firing in the most accurate of crosses.
Indeed, his passing more generally is usually of a very high standard. Whether short or long, it isn’t often that Emerson doesn’t find his intended target, which is perhaps one of the major weaknesses to Dest’s game.

Dest doesn’t appear to have too much trouble beating his man when required, but it’s what comes afterwards - or more accurately, what doesn’t - that has let him down across the season.
Given that defensive issues are arguably why Emerson is being brought back from Betis, it’s heartening to know that from a supporter’s point of view, he excels in this aspect too.
In fact, the one area he could improve on is his shooting, but then he’s not being paid to be a striker.
Is it therefore too early to suggest that Barca might finally have found a more raw version of Dani Alves?
The components to Emerson’s game are certainly there and worthy of a comparison.
It’s about putting them into practice at the highest level, and Barca is absolutely a step up for him.
