Should he stay or should he go?
This summer promises to be an intriguing one at Camp Nou with a new coach coming in and the club in need of strengthening this summer and set to splash out on some new signings.
One man who continues to divide opinion is Andre Gomes who was signed for big money last year and yet has so far failed to live up to his billing.
Gomes has been jeered by sections of his own support this year and the claim that he has a clause in his contract meaning Barca will pay Valencia an extra €15 million should he win the Ballon d’Or, now looks fairly laughable.
Luis Enrique has called criticism of the Portugal international “pathetic” and has also insisted he has only being playing at “30 per cent of his capacity” this season.
And there have been signs recently he could have a future at the club, notably the two goals he scored in the 7-1 win over Osasuna. Yes it was only Osasuna but still.
It appears that Barcelona are having similar thoughts about Gomes with Mundo Deportivo reporting that the club are facing a huge dilemma over the midfielder.
The report claims of interest from Juventus and Premier League clubs, although these are not named, and says the club are yet to decide if they want him to stay on although Robert Fernandez is willing to give him more time to prove himself.
Indeed there is a suggestion that should they receive an offer in the region of €35m, they could be tempted to let him go.
What does seem certain is that the midfielder’s future is far from secure, but does he need more time to prove himself at the club or is is time for a change of scenery?
