The coach is hoping to sign off with another trophy
Gerard Pique has paid tribute to Luis Enrique as he prepares to take charge of Barcelona for the final time in Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Alaves.
Lucho will be hoping to sign off on a high by leading Barca to the trophy for the third consecutive season at the Vicente Calderon before he steps down from his post.
Pique says that despite the criticism he has faced, particularly this season, he deserves to be remembered as one of the best managers the club has ever had.
"He has been one of the best coaches in the history of Barcelona," he told a pre-match press conference.
"I know that you [journalists] have not had the best relationship with him, but he's won us all over in the dressing room.
"I will remember his way of doing things and I hope that he leaves in a good way, by winning."
Barcelona are huge favourites to win the game but have already tasted defeat to Alaves this season and Pique has warned his team against complacency.
"Alaves have been the revelation of the season and are close to making history," he added
"We must match their level of motivation and make our technical and tactical superiority count.
"We have to be alert and help each other to watch players like Deyverson, Theo [Hernandez] and Kiko Femenia.
"We'll have a lot of the ball and should create lots of chances."
Enrique has had his detractors during his time in charge of Barca, but it has certainly been full of trophies and here’s hoping he lands another one tomorrow night.
