Guess who is the first Goleador. Hint: might have scored three and assisted one.
As Luis Enrique says, Barcelona as a team are focused on the three points they can achieve, and not musing on whether Real Madrid will stumble. I always tend to feel this is all part of a media dance employed regularly by the clear majority of coaches, the truthfulness of which not even they are convinced. Why say it then? Maybe a few of the players are truly not interested, but I would find that highly unlikely. We are all, therefore, on the lookout for a possible Real Madrid stumble, and enjoying Barcelona victories meanwhile. It is also quite enjoyable to start seeing some youngsters from La Masia getting some play time. I would have liked to see that occur with more frequency this year, as well as many prior, but you take what you can get.
Hopefully our next coach has that subtle touch with the youth academy, in a way that continues that very important tradition of promoting the young, very talented players. I think we can all agree this was not the season we envisioned, nor the most successful. Certainly, it can provide a base for a more successful season next year, one in which the board manages to adroitly fill the more pressing needs this team has. With all I have lived through, and the knocks most of us get from life, it would be crass to suggest there’s a thing such as an easy fix, vis-à-vis the right-back situation and its effect on our team. One would hope the right player is brought in to help this team, but long-term success would more likely entail a slew of criteria, and not just frivolously purchasing players.
Irish Goat’s Gamboling Goleadores!
1st Goleador: Neymar
Very strong game from the Brazilian in which he was the most dominating forward of our very devastating trio. Messi had a rough night in which he really wasn’t at his best, but that’s why we are fortunate to have these three forwards, as at any time one of them can kick it into high gear when the other stumbles.
2nd Goleador: Andres Iniesta
Perhaps not the most solid midfield performance again this season, but Iniesta continues to be a spectacular player. With the stable of talent this team has, if the next coach manages to coax the best form from these players, this team could be unstoppable.
3rd Goleador: Sergi Roberto
This dude’s hall pass is coming to an end, so you won’t have to see his name for much longer unless he earns it.
Visca Barça!
