The young defender is staking an early claim for a part of the rotation next year
It took a string of injuries, but Barcelona B defender Marlon Santos played for the FC Barcelona first team again, and he looked the part as the Catalans defeated Las Palmas 4-1.
The young Brazilian earned plaudits for a composed showing against a good attacking team, partnering another promising defender, Samuel Umtiti, in what could become a fixture for the club.
The talk is that Marlon has made a great case for becoming part of the defensive rotation in place of Jeremy Mathieu, who is likely to leave, even if Javier Mascherano stays.
Pep Segura is also earning praise for being the man who “discovered” Marlon for Barça. The team got him relatively cheap from Fluminense, in total about 6 million euro spread out over a few years.
