Let the mind games begin!
Xavi has not quite given up hope Barcelona can win La Liga despite Real Madrid moving three points clear at the top of the table with a 4-1 win over Celta Vigo on Wednesday.
Los Blancos now need just a point to secure a first title in five years ahead of Sunday’s clash at Malaga while Barcelona take on Eibar.
Madrid are big favourites to beat Malaga but Xavi says they face a tough test with Michel’s side in fine form having lost just one of their last eight games.
"Málaga are in great form and winning there is no easy task," he said according to AS.
"Can I see Míchel helping Barça out? Why not, but we need a last day like that at Tenerife years back for Barça to retain their title.
"Defeats such as Alavés at Camp Nou and Deportivo in Riazor carry a heavy toll and only at the end of the season can one weigh up the overall campaign."
While Xavi is trying his best to remain optimistic he does concede that it will be a huge shock now if Madrid do not go on to lift the title.
"I can't see Real Madrid letting the chance slip, they've been really strong all season," he added. "The game in Vigo was key and they came through with the win.
"I hope they slip-up against Málaga and Barça win the title but I genuinely feel that's complicated. Madrid has some fine players in the likes of Kroos, Modric and Isco."
While it’s a long shot the title is not quite over yet and after all, nobody expected Tenerife to beat Madrid in 1992 and 1993 - evidence that the final day can do funny things to teams - here’s hoping!
