Neymar has assets frozen by Brazilian Court

While this has been a good start to the week for Barcelona superstar Neymar, it has not been the best.

In football-related news, the Brazilian agreed to a contract extension with the Blaugrana that will keep him at the club until 2020 and will be signed in the summer. He also just bought a new house and will become Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez's new neighbor.

Everything was going well, until one piece of news from his home country came to light.

Brazilian authorities have blocked assets of Barcelona star Neymar, including a yacht, a jet and several properties worth almost $50 million.

A Sao Paulo federal court rejected an appeal from the Brazilian striker last week and started issuing warrants to freeze the assets worth 192 million reals (almost $50 million), Brazilian media reported on Monday.

Last year, Neymar, his family and related businesses were found guilty of evading 63 million reals in taxes (almost $16 million) between 2011 and 2013 when he was playing for Brazilian club Santos. He has denied any wrongdoing.

Just to clarify, this has nothing to do with his move to Barcelona. That's another problem, and he and his father had to appear in court and answer questions about that for over three hours a few weeks ago. This is related to his career with Santos. Even if he is found guilty in this case, there is no chance the Catalan club is at harm on this particular issue.

I have a two-word commentary for this whole mess: Neymar Father.
