Barcelona are ready to go all in to sign one of Europe's best prospects. Someone is joining them in the race.
According to reports from Diario Sport, the Blaugrana have been informed by sources in England that Manchester City new manager Pep Guardiola has identified Athletic Bilbao center-back Aymeric Laporte as one of his main transfer targets for his first summer window with the Citizens.
The Catalan giants are heavily rumored to make a big offer to the Basque club to sign the young Frenchman, who has attracted the interest from many European powerhouses. While Athletic want a hefty transfer fee, close to €50 million, there is indication that the Treble winners are willing to spend that much to incorporate the 21-year-old defender into the squad. Coach Luis Enrique believes Laporte would be a perfect addition to the defense, mainly because of his age and potential for the future.
But the Premier League side also has a big wallet and will give Guardiola a giant budget to work with this summer. They can overpay to get Laporte as they have always done in the past. In fact, they did it with under-achieving players, so there is no doubt they will do it for a great talent.
