Squad depth is a beautiful thing on paper. You form a strong group of players so they can be used in key situations. Maybe an important game is coming in just a few days, and you need your replacements to do their job and win a game for you before that key one comes around.
It is time for Barcelona to prove they have squad depth. The UEFA Champions League knockout stages start next week, with the Round of 16 first leg against Arsenal, in London, happening on Tuesday. This Saturday, just three days away from that all-important match, the Blaugrana are on the road for a La Liga fixture against Las Palmas. The Yellows are fighting against relegation and aren't the worst possible pre-Arsenal opponent, but they still can cause problems.
Especially if coach Luis Enrique decides to heavily rotate his squad and rest a few of his key players, maybe one or two from the 'MSN' trio. The substitutes need to come on and maintain the incredibly high level the team continues to showcase, and extend the record-setting unbeaten streak to 32 games. This is a great story line: can the reserves prove they can sustain the pressure of replacing the best players in the world, on the road? Should be a good game to follow. Don't miss it.
