Real Madrid need Pepe back -- and soon. The Portugal international has been out with a foot problem since the end of January, and he has been excluded from the squad to travel to Italy for the Champions League last 16 first-leg match against Roma on Wednesday. So far, there has been no official estimate as to when Pepe might be fit for action again.

Madrid’s home had been touted as a venue for the game between Barcelona and Sevilla on May 21 but AS reports ‘the Boss’ has been booked for a show on that date. Athletic Bilbao have tied down Sabin Merino to a contract until 2019 with a €30m release clause. The 24-year-old has signed the deal, Marca reports, with his previous terms due to expire at the end of the season.

A Madrid court has ruled that a minor must be detained at a juvenile centre for six years after being found guilty of homicide in the 2014 death of a Deportivo La Coruna fan. In November that year, a brutal street fight erupted between rival "ultra" groups before a match between Atletico Madrid and Deportivo.

Borussia Dortmund has announced the signing of Mikel Merino, who will complete the move from Osasuna on July 1 for a fee believed to be in the region of 5 million euros ($5.6M). The Bundesliga outfit attempted to bring in the Spain Under-19 international in January, but the transfer fell through as Dortmund refused to meet Osasuna's valuation of the midfielder.
