Xavi Hernández has called up 22 players for Saturday’s clash
The next Barcelona match is upon us! The Blaugrana travel to Madrid for a big La Liga game against Rayo Vallecano, and Xavi Hernández has called up the following 22 players for Saturday’s clash:
Goalkeepers: 13. Iñaki Peña, 26. Ander Astralaga, 36. Aron Yaakobishvili
Defenders: 2. João Cancelo, 3. Alejandro Balde, 4. Ronald Araujo, 5. Iñigo Martínez, 15. Andreas Christensen, 17. Marcos Alonso, 23. Jules Kounde
Midfielders: 8. Pedri, 18. Oriol Romeu, 21. Frenkie de Jong, 22. Ilkay Gündogan, 32. Fermín López, 34. Aleix Garrido, 35. Unai Hernández
Forwards: 7. Ferran Torres, 9. Robert Lewandowski, 11. Raphinha, 14. João Félix, 27. Lamine Yamal
The big news for this one is the much-anticipated return of Frenkie de Jong, who is back in the squad for the first time in two months after a long recovery from an ankle injury. Goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen is not in the squad due to a back issue, so backup Iñaki Peña will get the nod for the first time this season. Two other players are out through injury as Sergi Roberto (calf) misses this one but is close to a return, while Gavi (knee) is out for the season. Academy youngsters Aleix Garrido and Unai Hernández are called up to provide depth in midfield, and 17-year-old Aron Yaakobishvili gets his first call-up and will be the third goalkeeper with Ter Stegen out.
