The Barca star has been injured on international duty
Barcelona Femeni have been hit with an injury blow over the international break as it’s been confirmed Mariona Caldentey has been forced to leave the Spain camp with a foot injury.
The national team offered an update on the 25-year-old in a statement that confirmed Caldentey suffered an injury in Thursday’s 3-0 friendly win over Morocco.
“The Spanish international Mariona Caldentey leaves the national team squad this Friday, October 22, following medical tests after suffering a tackle, in the match against Morocco, which has caused a fracture in the fourth metatarsal of the left foot.”

Spain are preparing for a World Cup qualifier against Ukraine on Tuesday and will now have to cope with Caldentey who must work on her recovery. It’s not clear how long the Barca star will be out for but it’s likely to be at least a few weeks.
The news is a blow for Caldentey who is a regular in the Barca Femeni starting XI and has three goals and two assists already this season for the defending champions.
