The club is open to a change at left-back
Barcelona are reportedly interested in a swap deal involving Jordi Alba. The Barca left-back is one of the biggest contracts at the club and given the Catalans’ clear desire to spend less money, they’re interested in what it would take to offload his contract.
The reported deal would be Barca exchanging Alba with Inter Milan’s Alessandro Bastoni. The tough part is that Alba has no desire to leave, and he even said recently he wants to finish his career at the Camp Nou.
He said at the start of this month, “I have three years left on my contract and I see myself able to fulfill them. The club’s decision is there and my intention is to stay at Barcelona for life.”
The biggest reason Barcelona are looking to offload the Spain international is to help surplus the Lionel Messi deal. If experienced players with hefty deals like Alba, Sergi Roberto, and Sergio Busquets all drop some of their salaries, it may not be as big of a deal. But for now, it seems anyone is on the transfer table.
