The Brazilian says the PSG star will soon be the world’s best
Lionel Messi may not have been at his very best in recent weeks but if he needed any motivation to find his best form then he need look no further than Marcelo.
The Brazilian, who has really struggled this season, has been talking about the Barca captain and a certain Kylian Mbappe.
Marcelo reckons he found it harder to defend against the PSG star than Messi this season and also tipped him to soon be the best player in the world.
“The players I’ve played against in recent times are at the very top level,” he said.
”Playing against Mbappe this season, he gave me a lot of work. Messi didn’t play very well [on Tuesday], but Mbappe, for the speed, positioning, having direct confrontations with him, he was the most difficult.
”I think there is a great possibility that he will soon become the best in the world. There are some points that he needs to improve to be compared to Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, but he is evolving very fast.”

Mbappe is enjoying a fine season with PSG and has 20 league goals in 19 outings, while Messi has 22 from 22 appearances.
Meanwhile, Marcelo may get another chance to see just how tough it is to defend against Messi next week when the two teams meet at the Santiago Bernabeu in the Copa del Rey.
