Karim Benzema scores twice as Real Madrid hold off Athletic - ESPN FC
Karim Benzema scored a brace as Real Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1 at San Mames to go top of the Primera Division on goal difference. The Frenchman took advantage of an embarrassing error by Athletic defender Mikel San Jose to put Madrid ahead on 19 minutes and then restored their lead in the second half just three minutes after Sabin Merino had headed the Basques level.

Pressure is mounting on Malaga coach Javi Gracia after his side lost 1-0 at home to Villarreal to remain in the relegation zone. Fernando Tissone's own goal in the second half proved the difference at La Rosaleda and the hosts were booed off the pitch following a fifth consecutive game without scoring.

Las Palmas 2-0 Sevilla FC - ESPN FC
Primera Division new boys Las Palmas became the latest side to pile misery on Sevilla as they beat Unai Emery's side 2-0 with a goal in each half. Local boy Roque Mesa put the hosts ahead on the half-hour mark with a powerful finish and then defender Antolin Alcaraz headed in from close range to seal Las Palmas' first win since returning to the top flight.

Rayo Vallecano take advantage of Bernardo dismissal to pick up second win - ESPN FC
Rayo Vallecano picked up their second win of the campaign as a 2-1 success at home to 10-man Sporting Gijon also made it back-to-back victories for coach Paco Jemez. Vallecano made the most of their man advantage after Gijon skipper Bernardo was shown two quick-fire yellow cards in the first half, and they were 2-0 up thanks to Roberto Trashorras and Javi Guerra.

Levante hit back to make point against Eibar - ESPN FC
Levante came back from 2-0 down to salvage a point at home to Eibar. Borja thought he had handed Eibar their third win of the Primera Division campaign with a well-taken brace, but Levante hit back through Jose Luis Morales and Acosta Deyverson at the death to draw 2-2.

Jorge Mendes second-most powerful sports agent says Forbes - ESPN FC
Super agent Jorge Mendes was ranked on Wednesday by Forbes magazine as the second most powerful sports agent for 2015, behind Major League Baseball agent Scott Boras. By the Forbes tally, Mendes has negotiated more than $950 million in active player deals, bringing him at least $95 million in commissions.
