Luis Enrique, fresh off winning three titles in his first season with the Blaugrana, has signed a one-year contract extension that will see his agreement end only in June of 2017.
Rumors about Lucho's departure continued to increase as the club approaches its elections. With the likely return of Joan Laporta to the throne, many thought the presidential change could bring a managerial change, which is usually the case in many institutions. However, with this news, it's safe to assume nothing changes in terms of the coaching position at least for the next two seasons.
This has been a busy couple of days since the Blaugrana won the Berlin Final last Saturday. On Monday, the club announced the signing of Sevilla right-back Aleix Vidal, and on Tuesday both Dani Alves and Enrique have got new deals with the Catalan giants.
Also a few days ago, Pedro Rodríguez and Jordi Alba renewed their contracts, which makes it clear that this group will stay together to try and replicate this season's success in the upcoming years.
