The midfielder has spoken about his situation at the Camp Nou

Miralem Pjanic has opened up on his time at Barcelona after sealing a loan move to Besiktas and has made his frustration at coach Ronald Koeman pretty clear.

The midfielder spent most of his first season on the bench following his move from Juventus and looked set for a similar scenario in 2021-22.

Pjanic wasn’t even named in Barca’s matchday squads for the game against Real Sociedad and Athletic and is not too impressed with the way he’s been treated by Koeman.

The 31-year-old describes Koeman as a “very, very strange coach” in a lengthy interview with Marca and details how he still doesn’t know why he was frozen out by the Dutchman.

Here’s a bit more of what he had to say (you can read the whole interview here):

“It was a very difficult situation to accept, but I wasn’t going to fight. There was a person who was never going to change. He’s the coach. There was a lack of respect for the club, for those who didn’t play after training well.

The coach was never there to see the attitude of the players who didn’t play. It’s the first time I’ve seen that. How can a player be motivated to show he’s there when the coach isn’t there to see the attitude or how he trains? It was one of the worst things I’ve seen, a huge lack of respect and it wasn’t easy for those of us not playing. Now I’ve found a solution to play and I’m happy.”

Pjanic also goes on to say he doesn’t regret signing for Barcelona because, “I know I can play for those teams, I just wasn’t given a chance.” He’s also asked if he feels he has been dispected and gives a simple answer, “Yes.”
