The Catalans are not happy with the two decisions

Barcelona announced on Friday that they will file an appeal for a couple of vital midfielders this week. The specifics around the appeal are against the second yellow card that was handed out to Frenkie de Jong and the booking that Sergio Busquets earned against Cadiz.

You can read the specifics around the appeal below. It’s obvious that gaining some sort of footing in one of the two situations will be important for Barcelona. These two are vital to the midfield and they leave a hole when not present.

FC Barcelona will appeal against the second yellow card shown to Frenkie de Jong and the caution for Sergio Busquets to the Competition Committee of the Spanish Football Federation following the game between Cádiz and Barça in the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla in La Liga.

“According to the referee’s reports Frenkie de Jong, who had been booked for the first time just four minutes earlier, was shown a second yellow for ‘felling an opponents in a reckless challenge for the ball,’ after an incident with Cádiz player ‘Pacha’ Espino.

“In addition, captain Sergio Busquets was booked in the 96th minute for kicking a second ball that was on the pitch at the time. Referee Carlos del Cerro Grande in his report claims: ‘Kicking a second ball that was on the field at the time towards an opponent in possession of the ball, hitting the ball against the opponents and thus interfering with play.’”

As it stands Frenkie de Jong will have to sit out Sunday’s match against Levante unless Barcelona win their appeal. Ronald Koeman will also not be allowed on the bench after his red card.
