The coach is currently in charge of Ligue 1 side Reims
Ronald Koeman’s days as Barcelona boss appear to be numbered and a new name has been mentioned as a possible replacement for the Dutch coach at the Camp Nou.
According to RMC Sport, Oscar Garcia has emerged as a possible contender to take charge of the Catalan giants if Koeman is removed from his job.
The report reckons Garcia’s name is on Barca’s list, along with Xavi and Roberto Martinez, and came up during a meeting to discuss the Dutchman’s future.
Garcia’s past with Barcelona is said to be valued and the club apparently also like the idea of having a Cruyffista in charge of the club.
The Spaniard played for Barca in the 1990s and also enjoyed a successful three years in charge of Juvenil A between 2009-2012. It’s not the first time he’s been linked with the coach’s job at the Camp Nou.
The 48-year-old has had a pretty varied managerial career and has had spells in charge of a host of clubs already including Maccabi Tel Aviv, Brighton, Watford, Red Bull Salzburg, Olympiacos, and Celta Vigo.
Garcia is currently in charge of French side Reims and was appointed in June on a three-year deal. The team has managed just one win from seven Ligue 1 games so far in 2021-22.
