Another embarrassing European night for the Catalans
Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets fronted up to the media after Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to Benfica and admitted the club are in a “critical situation.”
The Catalan giants were beaten 3-0 at the Estadio da Luz in yet another European humiliation that leaves Ronald Koeman’s side bottom of Group E and without a single point after two games.
Busquets admits things aren’t looking good for Barca but says the team have to try and stay positive ahead of the double header against Dynamo Kiev.
“We had chances but I’m not too sure if we got any of them on target. Statistics only say so much - if we didn’t put one on target that still doesn’t mean we didn’t create good opportunities.
“When we pushed up in the match Benfica broke and went one-on-one against our centre-halves. Two goals came that way.
“It’s easy to sack the manager. But the truth is we’re all responsible for this situation. And it’s a critical one, to be honest.
“But we are still only two games into the group and we need to focus on fighting back. We need to beat Dynamo Kyiv twice and watch what our rivals do. There’s a long road left in this group and we have to try to stay positive.”

The result leaves Barca with a mountain to climb to progress to the knockout stages and puts Koeman under even more pressure. Barca now head back home and face another crunch game on Saturday at Atletico Madrid in La Liga.
