The Catalans are very interested in Pogba, but they need him to accept a lower offer
FC Barcelona are ready to make a big effort to land Paul Pogba next summer, but they will not be drawn into a bidding war for the midfielder’s services, according to the latest rumors.
The Catalans are looking for a new star after the departures of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann, and another midfielder to add depth and quality to the lineup. They believe Pogba ticks both boxes, and what’s more, his contract expires next year.
However, landing the Manchester United and France superstar won’t be easy. He will demand a large paycheck and several teams will be more than happy to provide it.
The report says that Barcelona are not interested in becoming part of an auction process, in which his agent, Mino Raiola, seeks the highest bidder.
Joan Laporta, who won the club presidency this year, was strongly rumored to be pushing for Pogba’s signing when the latter was on the verge of leaving Juventus to sign for United in 2016.
Laporta would have tried to sign Pogba should the former have won the club presidency then, although he lost to Josep Maria Bartomeu - the person he eventually replaced.
