The defender considered going out on loan
Oscar Mingueza has admitted he thought about leaving the Camp Nou when he was struggling for minutes at Barcelona B.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a superb season with the first team after being called up by Ronald Koeman due to injury problems in defense.
Mingueza has gone on to make 28 appearances in all competitions and scored his first goal last time out against Huesca in a 4-1 win.
The center-back has spoken about his time at the club and comparisons with Carles Puyol who came close to a move to Malaga in 1998 but decided to stick it out at Barca instead.
“My story is that I was in B and there was a moment when I thought about going out on loan to have minutes. When you are young what you want is to play and have minutes. But the truth is that I do not like to compare my history or my game with that of other players,” he said.
“But whenever they compare you with players like Puyol, it is an honor, for everything he gave to the club, what he was ... captain, player, person ... everyone has spoken highly of him to me.”

Mingueza has become an important member of the squad this summer and Barca are reportedly looking to renew his contract to ward off interest from other clubs.
