A comfortable night and three big points!

Barcelona continue their incredible run of form in La Liga with their 11th win in the last 12 games thanks to a 4-1 victory over Huesca at Camp Nou. Barça dominated the worst team in the league and scored some really good goals, and they’ve now cut Atlético Madrid’s lead to just four points to truly make this a title race.

FIRST HALF

Barça were in complete control throughout the first half, dominating possession and sending plenty of bodies forward despite playing with a back three, and they didn’t have to work too hard to create good chances against the Huesca defense.

The Blaugrana hit the crossbar twice and came close on other opportunities, and they scored two beautiful goals: first Lionel Messi curled a beauty into the top corner that bounced off the crossbar twice before going in, and Antoine Griezmann did a beautiful Messi in Paris impression and scored a screamer from outside the box.

Barça were ready to go into halftime with a deserved two-goal lead, but the referees decided to give Huesca a chance in the game: Rafa Mir couldn’t reach a cross inside the box, and after the ball was gone he was barely touched by Marc-André ter Stegen and dived spectacularly out of bounds, and somehow the referee and VAR both bought the simulation and gave Huesca a penalty.

Rafa Mir stepped up and scored, and at halftime this was somehow a game despite true dominance from Barça.

SECOND HALF

Thankfully for Barça the late Huesca goal in the first half didn’t change the game as the Blaugrana continued to be by far and away the dominant force on the pitch, and Óscar Mingueza scored a beautiful header from a Messi cross early in the second half to double Barça’s lead and make things more comfortable.

Huesca didn’t give up after conceding and made the game difficult, sending bodies forward and creating a giant chance for Rafa Mir who was all alone just one yard from goal, but he tried to chest the ball home with some style and somehow sent it over the bar in laughable fashion.

The final 20 minutes weren’t very fun to watch as Huesca tried to attack but lacked quality and Barça were more than happy to give the away team the ball and defend their goal. There was still time for Messi to score again from outside the box, this time with the help of a deflection. The final whistle eventually came, and Barça have won again to put real pressure on Atlético at the top.

A trip to Anoeta is up next before the international break, and Barça are going into that one in great form.
