The Dutchman has been talking with Joan Laporta

Ronald Koeman will reportedly continue as Barcelona boss next season after meeting with president Joan Laporta to discuss his future on Tuesday.

TV3 report that a “formal” meeting was held at the Ciutat Esportiva between Koeman and the new president with vice president Rafael Yuste, director of football Mateu Alemany, and technical secretary Ramon Planes also in attendance.

The trio told Koeman they have “total satisfaction and confidence” in his work and “guaranteed” he will be in charge of the team next season and see out his contract.

There was some uncertainty over Koeman earlier this season, after a poor start, but the team’s improved form and current unbeaten run looks to have done enough to impress Laporta.

Koeman’s willingness to trust in youth this season and hand players such as Ilaix Moriba, Oscar Mingueza, Pedri, Ronald Araujo, and Sergino Dest plenty of game time is certain to have gone down well too.

The outcome means that Koeman can relax a little and start thinking about next season. The report adds that free agents such as Memphis Depay, Wijnaldum and Eric Garcia remain on the table and Koeman wants to have the last word when it comes to transfers.
