It’s making the front covers of Catalan papers.
Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho is near the top of FC Barcelona’s transfer wishlist if the paper talk is to be believed. The Brazilian attacker is on the front cover of both Diario SPORT and L’Esportiu, with both outlets seeing Coutinho as a possible addition in the summer.
SPORT says Robert considers an attacking midfielder who can also play as a winger a "necessity." However, Coutinho renewed with Liverpool until June 2022, and he's their best-paid player now. Barcelona would have to pay him even more than what he currently makes, reportedly about 5 million euros a year. A salary like that would put him near the wages received by Sergio Busquets and Gerard Pique, and just a level below the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar.
Now apparently there is contact, albeit preliminary contact, between Barcelona and Coutinho’s agent. So this could go on.
But that's all before getting to the point that Liverpool do not want to sell Coutinho. They may demand a Suarez-level price for him. If that is the case, Barcelona will have to sell players themselves to fund the move.
