A new week and a fresh batch of transfer tales too
Neymar & Unzue clash in training
You’d think all would be well in Barcelona training after an emphatic win over Villarreal on Saturday but that is not the case at all, claim Mundo Deportivo.
They report that Neymar clashed with Juan Carlos Unzué during a session with the Brazilian unhappy with some of the coach’s tactical instructions.
The argument escalated with Unzue telling Neymar he needs to concentrate on his football to fulfil his potential or risk going backwards. Ouch.
This comes just days after Neymar reportedly told the club Unzue was his choice to replace Luis Enrique – I wonder if he may have changed his mind?
Messi close to new five-year deal
Lionel Messi is closing in on a new five-year deal at Barcelona after huge progress in negotiations between the player’s father and the club, claim AS.
Jordi Mestre revealed at the weekend that the club were confident of agreeing an extension following speculation Messi has rejected the club’s initial offer.
Guardiola wants Alba at Manchester City
Those Jordi Alba to leave Barcelona rumours simply refuse to go away with Don Balon jumping on the bandwagon to inform us the full-back could be set to head to Manchester City
Alba will definitely opt to leave should Juan Carlos Unzué replace Luis Enrique and Pep Guardiola has already made contact ahead of a potential €35 million move.
Fernandez scouts Bellerin against Manchester United
Roberto Fernandez took himself off to London on Sunday to watch Hector Bellerin in action during Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Manchester United, so say Mundo Deportivo.
It was almost a wasted journey mind you, Bellerin only making it onto the pitch after 84 minutes as a replacement for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as Arsenal continued with a back three.
Manchester City also want Bellerin but he feels a return to Camp Nou could boost his international chances particularly ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
