Lionel Messi is one more goal away from taking yet another record in his historic career. With his goal in the Copa America Centenario quarterfinals against Venezuela tonight he's tied Gabriel Batistuta as Argentina's all-time goal scorer.
His cheeky finish between the goalkeeper's legs made it 3-0 on the night as Argentina are waltzing into the semifinals to face the United States.
It's his 56th career goal for Argentina. His next tally will officially make him the king of Argentina's goal charts. That wasn't his only contribution on the night as he had a brilliant assist to Gonzalo Higuain to open the scoring as well.
This continues a trend of Barcelona players dominating on the international scene as Gerard Pique and Ivan Rakitic scored earlier in the week.
This is Messi's first start of the Copa America, but it's already his fourth goal of the tournament which makes him the golden boot leader. He's looking to win his first major international title in his career and now he's one step closer.
