OFFICIAL: Dani Alves joins Juventus from Barcelona on free transfer

The Dani Alves Era is over.

The former Barcelona superstar has officially joined Serie A champions Juventus, the Italian club announced on Monday. Alves has signed a two-year contract, with a club option for an automatic one-year extension. Juventus has paid nothing for the transfer, since Dani activated a clause in his Barça contract that allowed him to leave for free.

Dani Alves is the greatest full-back in Barcelona history. The Bahia native arrived at Catalonia in the summer of 2008, and after eight seasons as a Blaugrana, Alves leaves the club with 23 trophies won. Alves is the second foreign player with most appearances in La Liga (239) in Barça history, and has won six league titles in his incredible career with the Catalan giants.

After enjoying major success under Pep Guardiola, Alves was constantly linked with a move away from the Blaugranes, especially after coach Luis Enrique joined the club. But Dani stuck around for the first two years of Lucho's tenure, and remained an integral part of the Barça system. He would always step up his game in the big matches, and his departure truly marks the end of an era at Camp Nou.

Thank you for everything, Dani. All the best at Juve, and you'll never be forgotten. There will never be another Dani Alves. Ever.

Obrigado, Dani.
