It’s international week and the rumors are big
It’s international week, which means there’s not much going on, so transfer rumors are back on the agenda with a bang, and today is no different.
Mundo Deportivo report that Barcelona have been keeping tabs on Manchester United’s Anthony Martial and have decided he is good enough to play for the club.
The Frenchman has certainly started the season well with six goals and four assists in all competitions this season (according to WhoScored).
MD reckon that the attacking options available to Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford - think Marcus Rashford, Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic when he’s fit, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata - is bad news for Martial.
The feeling is that Martial may not be able to cement himself a regular place in the starting line-up and could therefore look for a move away.
Barca will continue to keep an eye on Martial, in case he does become unsettled at United but there’s no talk in the report of negotiations or even any potential offer.
Martial’s had an inconsistent time at Old Trafford since joining from Monaco. He finished as the club’s top scorer in his first campaign, but found it much tougher going last season with starts hard to come by.
This season started in similar fashion, Martial has only started once in the Premier League and twice in the Champions League, but he has made an impact off the bench.
The sense is that he is finally starting to earn Mourinho’s trust, and his form has been good, but he’s still not a regular in the starting XI at the moment.
