For Messi, this is the ninth consecutive year he has been named a finalist for the award, the most coveted individual prize in world football.

On Monday morning at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper FC Barcelona held their first training session since Saturday's 4–0 victory over Granada at Camp Nou. Espanyol boss Constantin Galca says he is open to Luis Enrique's suggestion of a chat before next week's Copa del Rey last-16 second leg against Barcelona. Enrique suggested speaking to Galca in the wake of Barca's 4-0 victory over Granada on Saturday, providing the Romanian was happy to return the favour, and he has now given the idea his approval.
