After facing Athletic Bilbao on Sunday, Barcelona will play Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday, before playing against Athletic Bilbao again next Wednesday. It's safe to say these teams will be tired of each other by next week. But the Spanish Federation schedule was nice to the fans, giving us three great matchups in a span of eleven days.
The first game of this mini-series went almost perfect for the Blaugrana: a giant 6-0 triumph with spectacular performances from Neymar Jr., Sergio Busquets and especially Luis Suárez, who ended a small scoring drought with a sensational hat-trick. The only problem was Lionel Messi, who left the pitch still in the first half with some muscle pain. The Argentine does not have an injury, but reports from Spain say that he might take this week off to avoid the pain becoming a bigger problem.
If Messi doesn't travel to the Basque Country, the 'MSN' trio for the second match of the series and the first leg of the Copa del Rey quarter-final will only have the 'N'. Neymar Jr. will need to carry the load offensively without his superstar partners, but will have the in-form Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal healthy and available to play alongside him.
Bilbao, on the other hand, will play at home with their crazy fans ready to cheer them to a victory. Los Leones will certainly want to avenge the tough loss at Camp Nou, and against a slightly weaker Blaugrana team, they might have a chance. How will Barça respond?
