Had to make just a single save, a very simple one, midway through the second half, earning himself a rare clean sheet. Is it a coincidence that Barcelona's defense looked the best in some time in the game that featured Bartra? It might be, and it might be the aforementioned poor BATE attack, but Bartra yet again put in a very good showing for Barcelona, leading the team in won aerial duels - he was a threat in that facet of the game on both ends of the pitch - and clearances. |

Brought on with 20 to play as a substitute for his hapless counterpart Munir El Haddadi. With every week that passes in Messi's absence, you can't help but pine for Pedro somewhat. A positive point for Sandro was out-muscling a Bate midfielder to repossess the ball and feed Suarez who then crossed for Neymar. It just doesn't seem to be coming together for him though, whether coming off the bench or being given a start. |

The attack, most notably the deadliness in front of goal, continues to be a work in progress, but the defense showed signs of improvement. The win did come at a price though, the injury to Roberto, but his absence will be only short term. |

Defensive solidity was the number one priority tonight and the team delivered for the manager. Bartra looked like the ideal dancing partner for Piqué which should delight most. Perhaps the dropping, albeit extremely briefly, of Rakitic, lit a fire under an under-performing midfielder. Up front the options alongside the bi-dente seem extremely limited. It now seems that he can choose freely between Sandro and Munir without the burden of wondering which of them is actually going to perform to Barcelona standards. A solid away win and he returns home at the top of the group. |

From the beginning this was a two horse race, with Neymar storming to victory in the end. Despite scoring two goals, Rakitić had to settle for second place with 34% of the votes. Rounding up the top three was, perhaps mockingly, was Gumbau with 3%. |
