Having already secured safe passage into the Round of 16, FC Barcelona will be hoping to go one better tonight and guarantee a favourable draw by clinching top spot in Group F. To do so, the Blaugrana must defeat Paris Saint-Germain and avenge their Matchday 2 defeat at the Parc des Princes -- a feat that is certainly much easier said than done. The Parisians always represent a tough challenge for Barça and there is no reason to suggest that tonight will be an exception.
In Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani and Thiago Silva, PSG possess the star power to contend with their illustrious hosts and they demonstrated just how threatening they can be in September. On that night Barça were slow, showed a lack of defensive focus and thoroughly deserved to end up on the losing side of a 3-2 scoreline.
A repeat of the shambles we witnessed in Paris would be disastrous; this is a club after all that must have designs on challenging for the trophy in June. Failing to convert this fixture into a home win would render those dreams virtually unattainable, or at least deal them a huge blow. How can we expect to defeat Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Chelsea over two legs if we cannot beat PSG in the group stage?
