It was a busy summer for Andoni Zubizarreta as FC Barcelona bolstered their squad ahead of their impending FIFA-imposed transfer ban, adding a whole host of new players to their ranks. From superstar strikers to back-up defenders, we scoured the market for the best deals and the players we perceived to be the best fits for our team. In some cases, the moves have paid dividends -- for others, the jury is still out. Oh, and there's at least a couple that have gone down as well a lead balloon.
However, has anything ever thought about ranking our summer transfers, in order, from best to worst?
What better time than now to do just that; we've seen what almost all of them can offer and based on their performances (or lack thereof) to date, along with their price-tag and perhaps their reputation, we all have an opinion about who is fitting in the best. For me, the undisputed best signing of the summer has been Claudio Bravo. At just €12 million, the Chilean shot-stopper represented one of our cheapest deals of the summer and his performances in La Liga have been exceptional, saving us multiple points in what has still been a somewhat shaky start. At the weekend for instance, his sliding challenge on Victor Sanchez helped us keep Espanyol's lead to a single goal, enabling Lionel Messi to turn the match around.
