The 18-year-old has inherited the iconic number
Ansu Fati’s dad has been busy snapping up Barcelona shirts after the club confirmed earlier this week that his son would be taking over Lionel Messi’s No. 10 shirt.
Bori Fati was spotted taking a trip to the Barcelona store at the Camp Nou and splashing out on eight shirts with his famous son’s name on the back. He also opened up on what it meant for Ansu to be the new Barca No. 10.
“Ansu has a winning mentality. Hopefully so, that the best Ansu returns. He is only 18 years old. We are very happy. I have no words to describe what it means that Ansu inherits the 10 from Leo Messi. I have no words. It is a moment of emotion that must be kept forever.”
Fati Senior also spoke about his son’s injury problems as the teenager closes in on a return to first-team action after almost 10 months on the sidelines.
“We have had a very bad time. I have cried a lot, many times, Ansu too. He is very strong, they have been nine very hard months,” he said.
“I do not wish anyone what we have experienced. Not my worst enemy. But life goes on. I have spent many nights without sleep. Many. We have felt the love of Barcelona. We have checked every day when we arrive at the sports city. The culés never fail. We are with them all the family.”

Ansu is back in training with the first team now but it’s still not clear when he will be ready to step out on the pitch in his new No. 10 shirt. There had been speculation he could return against Sevilla but Ronald Koeman insisted that date was unrealistic in his last press conference.
