The youngster has a decision to make
Alex Collado is wanted by Portuguese side Braga who have made an offer to take the Barcelona midfielder on loan for the coming 2021-22 season.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Braga are in a bit of a rush and are hoping for an answer from the 22-year-old in the next couple of days.
Collado is said to prefer a move to a club playing in the Champions League but could be tempted by Braga who finished third last season and will play in the Europa League.
Barca and Braga have done a bit of business in the last few seasons. Abel Ruiz left the Camp Nou for the Portuguese side, while the Catalans signed Francisco Trincao from Braga.
Collado is part of the first-team set-up at the moment but looks like he’ll really struggle for minutes if he does stay. Ronald Koeman admitted after the opening day win over Real Sociedad that he prefers Yusuf Demir over Collado at the moment.
The midfielder had looked set for a move to Belgian champions Club Brugge earlier this summer, and left the preseason training camp in Germany for talks, but a proposed transfer subsequently fell through.
Collado had already made it clear earlier this summer that he won’t return to Barca B and will do all he can to play for the first team this season.
“I am going to work to the maximum to have minutes in the first team. I will not return to Barça B,” he said. “The intention is to continue working and stay at Barça. Nothing can be ruled out, but the intention is to be in the first team.”
However, the youngster must now decide whether he wants to stay at the Camp Nou, and potentially spend most of the season on the bench, or try his luck on loan where he can hopefully enjoy regular football.
